Annett Louisan Tour Comes to an End

21.02.08

Greetings from a hotel room In Graz Austria where I'm doing my best to recover from the 50 show tour with Annett Louisan. We just played the last show last night here in Graz to a capacity crowd in the Orpheum which is a beautiful club venue. The crowd was virtually ecstatic which made for a great last show of what has been an absolutely amazing tour.  Three nights ago we played in the stadthalle in Vienna which was a particular highlight for me as i had several close friends and family members in the audience who had come from afar to see me in action.  It was a tearful reuunion adding special significance to the song Strange Place Called Home for which Annett's band backed me up beautifully.

I believe that highlights of the SWR1 radio show will be broadcasted again this evening on SWR1 at 22.30 for anyone who is interested.  more news as it comes in!  warm regards from martin.

SWR 1 Radio Show and Greetings From Zürich

13.02.08

We're into the very last leg of the Annett Louisan tour.  We've just arrived in Zurich and I'm writing from the catering area backstage at the Congresshaus.
We've got 4 shows here in Switzerland and then it's over to Austria for 3 shows and then the tour is over.  It's been such a great time that i'm already getting a little sentimental though I am also looking very forward to reuniting with my own band and doing some club shows with them.   Check the tour dates for more info.

A few days back I had a nice little adventure in Baden Baden where I gave a radio concert for the SWR1 show "Kopfhörer".  4 members of Annett's band and she herself accompanied me for a 50 minute Martin Gallop special and it was a real thrill to turn the tables for an evening and have Annett as my guest for a song in the set.  The concert was recorded live and will be broadcasted on the evening of the 20th of February on SWR1.

that's it for now.  more news as i get it! best wishes all round from Martin.

Solo Shows in March

29.01.08

The Tour with Ms. Louisan is now more than half way through. There have been lots of highlites along the way and i'm still having a great time being on the road with Annett and her amazing band.  And I'm happy to announce that when the tour is over at the end of february the first solo shows are already in planning.  Please check back shortly for the details on shows in Hamburg, Aachen, Cologne and Berlin.  Other cities also to be added to the list shortly. I've got a great band together for these shows with Jonathan Heine on Bass, Carolina Bigge on Drums, Patrick Arp on guitars and wurlitzer, Rainer Baumgartner on percussion and much to my delight Friedrich Paravicini (from Annett Louisan's band) on cello, theremin, accordion and harp.  More info as i get it! best regards from Martin  PS: and again another thanks for all the kind words in my guest book! it's much appreciated.

Tour Part 1 comes to an end

21.12.07

Hello from Hamburg where we just finished up the first leg of the Annett Louisan tour.  We went out with a bang in the Große Freiheit last night to a packed house and followed up with some extensive celebrating.
The shows have been going really well.  The reactions to my short set in the middle of Annett's show have been warmly received by the crowds and the press and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have stopped by to leave such kind comments in my guestbook.  i appreciate the feedback and the encouragement!
I'm staying on in Hamburg for a few days to do some studio work on the production of Udo Lindenberg's new album and then I'm looking forward to a break over christmas before we go back on the road for another 32 shows through Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Wishing everyone all the best over the holiday season!

Record Release Day

23.11.07

well today is the official record release here in germany, austria and switzerland of 'strange place called home' .  Hopefully this album will soon be finding it's own home in stereo systems around the country. The first bits of feedback from radio stations and press are starting to come through and so far so good!

Two nights ago i had the pleasure of performing a few songs with my new band in the soda salon in berlin. It was a chance to present the album to various radio and press people but also an opportunity to celebrate with the many friends who have helped out in the making of this record. Thanks to everyone who came out and many thanks to EMI for providing us with the cool location, the drinks, and the schmalzbrot! We had a lot of fun.

On sunday it's down to Haslach in south germany to prepare for the first show with annett louisan on the 27th of Nov.  I'm really looking forward to touring with her and her great band.  I'll be sure to keep you posted on how I make out.  best wishes until then from martin.
